Dawn K. Knill, CFRE joined the Freedom House Foundation staff in March of 2015 as the Director of Marketing and Development.  Dawn brings 25 years’ experience in the non-profit sector with skills in administration, program development, finance and budgeting, customer/member services, stewardship and relationship building, special events, volunteer recruitment and management, and public relations. She has been a certified fundraising executive since June, 2008. Dawn looks forward to building a comprehensive and diverse fundraising program which will help grow and sustain the financial health of Freedom House.

 

Prior to joining the Freedom House Foundation team, Dawn was the Director of Development and Public Relations for SAGE Eldercare in Summit New Jersey for nine years. She was responsible for all the fundraising efforts and had oversight regarding the organization’s visibility in the community.  Over Dawn’s tenure at SAGE and under her leadership SAGE’s fundraising increased by 52%.

 

Dawn has served as an executive board member of the New Jersey Chapter for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, of which she has held multiple positions within the chapter. Positions included VP of membership, secretary of the board, VP of resource development, chairperson for the Conference on Philanthropy, chairperson for the Awards in Excellence Dinner as well as involvement with the Youth in Philanthropy program.  She currently serves on the AFP International Next Generation Committee.

 

Additional volunteer activities include involvement with Curbing Hunger, Inc. where she serves as their special events professional, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where Dawn has served several terms on the vestry and is currently volunteers on the Healing Ministry Team and as an altar server.  Dawn was instrumental in helping to raise $2M for their capital campaign as well as increasing the number of families pledging to the annual stewardship campaign.

 

Dawn lives in Basking Ridge, New Jersey with her husband, Chuck, where they raised their six children.
